My is my car overheating. It is over heating within 15 minutes in neutral. Changed the water pump and nothing?
it is still heating up, close to the red zone. When i turn on the heater only cold air comes through. Looks like the coolant is not pumping through when the car overheats. What could be the problem? It's a Mitsubishi magna 94, a ny ideas? just tested the thermostat and is ok, any ideas?
First check for leaks. Your vehicle is older, if you are not the original owner I would research and see if anyone has ever used a radiator fix. Just because you bought a new water pump does not guarantee it is good, sometimes they come bad off the shelf. Check your thermostat and see if it is functioning. (Boil some water and throw it in the pot, if it pops open it is good) Also, you can take it to a mechanic, sometimes you can find places that offer free diagnostics. A mechanic would probably know what to do. You can research some vehicle problems at Autozone.com. A bad coolant temperature sensor could be sending your car the wrong message, there are a number of things that can cause this. Do your research, a Mitsi is a good car, but parts are not always available.
