Pump Ra
Being the Complete Team Leader?
Okay, so I haven't been pumping up my team before games and all of that. I'm the varsity team's starting rb and saftey and I'm a senior in high school. I have let two other seniors take the major leadership role and they do all the pep talks and ra-ra stuff. The problem is, the team has been underperforming as a whole.
So I'm thinking of becoming the vocal leader of the team. I already have the respect of the team but I just don't know how when and what to say.
Like the last thing to say before we take the field or leave the lockeroom...
other players respond more to people that let their preparation (film work) performance in practice, in the workout room, and in games do their talking for the most part. then the occasional team pep talk or words to an underperforming teammate carries much more weight than the "constant talker"
EDIT: as far as what to say, my favorite game time line I would give was. " if every man on this field accepts the personal responsibility that nobody is going to take this game (win) away from me, then as a team we wont be be beat" again that begins with you preparation, dedication and attention to fundamentals and details.
