Pump Inverter
I have an aquarium air pump that is 12vac, 60hz, 2.7 w. I thought when I ordered it it was a 12vdc.?
So now I have to convert 12dc to 12ac. Is there such a thing as an 12vdc to 12vac inverter? Or can I make a simple oscillator to be able to run this pump?
As I said twice already, inverters that output 12 VAC are not available as far as I know. Feel free to search the internet on your own.
A simple oscillator will not be very efficient, so you will waste a lot of power. Unless you have a lot of experience at this type of design.
Plus, without a transformer, the best you will do with a sine wave oscillator is 12 volts P-P, which is 4 volts RMS, not enough to run the motor. A 12 volt P-P square wave, which would be more efficient, is still only 6 volts RMS, still not enough for the motor.
Return the 12 VAC one you have, or operate it off the AC line via a transformer, or go back to the 120 VAC one.
